Transition - 964 to 993 With the introduction of the 993 in the autumn of 1993 the next big step in the 911 evolution was made. A multi-link wishbone arrangement replaced the old semi-trailing arm rear set-up. This immediately reduced the tendency for the car to swap ends and the new rear suspension layout greatly improved `on the limit handling` making the car more user friendly. These improvements along with lower tyre pressures meant that the rumbling road noise from the rear of the outgoing 964 had gone. Gary.J.Bullen, 16th April, 2001
