HEAD and SIDELIGHTS
25th July, 2002 - Ithink my bulbs are 90/130 and they have worked fine for 4 years with no blown fuses or melted wires and Inever get flashed by other drivers so they must be set up correctly. my car also has the electric adjusters for the beam height which can stop working due to corrosion leading to the lights not being balanced together ie one can jam on full height and the other on minimum height. when Idrive up to my garage door in the dark Ioften check that both motors are working and if not a quik clean of the contacts gets them moving again. no one has mentioned these ajuster motors before so this could improve your lights too. I suspect some cars don't have them however? Harvey
On the subject of a 'lights on' warning, you can in fact buy a kit which I believe is made by Cosmic and costs under a fiver, from any decent accessory shop and fit yourself. It gives an audible warning when the lights are left on. Martyn C
My LUX is August 1987 E, and with the ignition OFF, and switching side-lights on, the pop-ups raise, but only the sidelights (in the bumper) illuminate. Mark R
Here's another spanner in the works.. Mine's a late 85 Lux - the following happens (in sequence) Ignition on - sidelights on - pods down Ignition on - headlamps on - pods up (obviously!!) Ignition on - headlamps off - pods stay up Ignition off - sidelamps on - pods still stay up It seems on mine, that once the headlamps have been on, the pods stay up until you turn all lights off, then they drop. If you only use the sidelights, the pods stay down. I no longer know if this is weird or the norm... Derek T - same as my 1990 S2 - Rob F, Martyn C
For info purposes the "Porsche" advised sequence is as follows. WITH IGNITION OFF. 1. Switch at stage 1 - sidelights should be on, pods should be down. 2. Switch at stage 2 - sidelights should be on, pods should be up but not lit. WITH IGNITION ON OR ENGINE RUNNING 1. Switch at stage 1 - sidelights should be on, pods should be down. 2. Switch at stage 2 - sidelights should be on. pods should be up and lit. And as everybody thought when switching from headlamps down to sidelights the pods will stay up until completely switched off. I'll let everybody know how I get on. I'll also fit a lights on buzzer at the weekend. Nik M
