PERFORMANCE UPGRADES
TURBOS - If you have a weak wastegate, the quickest solution is to fit a ProMAX Boost Enhancer. See www.autoporsche.co.uk this will only cost you £99.95, is completely safe and will liberate significantly more torque due allowing the boost to come on much sooner. Many Turbo owners on this list have a Boost Enhancer. They all have much faster cars as a result, ask for some feedback if you are uncertain as to what the device does. It's a lot cheaper than a refurbished wastegate and has the same effect as well as the benefit of giving you greatly reduced turbo lag. It also carries a money back guarantee and they are in stock now. Regards, Andrew Sweetenham - Tel: +44 (0)7831 393633 Fax: +44 (0)1908 528030 - 14th March, 2001
SUPERCHARGING - The 'Red Dragon' article in P&911W (April 2000) about the tweaked 944 Turbo was about DP Motorsport based in Warrington Cheshire. The system works by adjusting the engine boost pressure and fuelling, by changing the boost pressure to 1.3bar, and the addition of a two-part boost pressure and fuel control system, both controlled from 2 head units slotted into the central consol (or anywhere else for that matter...) Apparently the unit is manufactured in Japan by A'PEXi and are used quite a bit in performance Japanese tin. The whole lot costs about £2500 but brings the power up to a claimed 350bhp and 350lb/ft of torque..... This is not meant as an indication of the quality of DP Motorsport's work, or even of the claims made about the A'PEXi systems, but purely as a point of interest... and to a non-turbo geek like myself, it did make very interesting reading. The article concludes by comparing the £95,000 911 Turbo with the tweaked 944 Turbo at about £9500 - and according to them, there isn't a lot in it... DP MOTORSPORT - not had any work done by them yet, but seen one of the cars and heard Simon Wilson talking about it at NW Region meeting - I was well impressed. Also met Dave Perry (DP) who is extremely helpful and has raced Porsches himself - Rob F
BOOST ENHANCER - if you drive a 944 Turbo and want it to go lots faster, try a 'Boost Enhancer'. Details available at my website or follow this link: http://www.autoporsche.co.uk The 'Boost Enhancer' gives you a much more noticeable performance increase than chips or new waste-gates. It's only £99.95 including VAT, P&P & 14 day satisfaction guarantee. The Boost Enhancer doesn't effect reliability at all, doesn't increase peak boost but almost totally reduces turbo lag and allows the turbo to spin up much faster. Over 200 now sold in the UK, ask for feed back on the Titanic list. Andrew S - 17th November, 2003
Although set to open at 10psi it will actually give you 15psi of maximum boost at the point where maximum overboost is achieved. This is due to the time it takes for the air signal to progressively overcome the 10psi spring in the Boost Enhancer and reach the wastegate. Hence if you have a car with a weak wastegate a Boost Enhancer will almost fully restore your car to max boost. The car will still experience a boost drop once the Boost Enhancer (that is fully adjustable) has fully opened at 10psi. As the wastegate opens prematurely on all 951 cars by design (at about 0.2 bar or less than 5 psi), the Boost Enhancer greatly improves the performance of all 951 cars - regardless of wastegate condition (providing it is a single port wastegate, i.e. the standard item). MARTYN'S MODS - Mods to my S2 Performance
Re-chipped with a 'superchip' by Extreme Motorsport of Harlow
Big bore full stainless steel exhaust system, hand made to own specs by Hayward

I don't know what the output is at the moment following the 'performance' mods,
but it will be going on the rolling road in a couple of weeks. Also having car
